Making
genuine friends is one of the real struggles of life. Why
are friends so fleeting? Why do I feel so alone most of the
time? In answer to that question, the Bible clearly states
that God invites us to become His friend through the sacrifice
of His own Son. John's gospel says, "Greater love has
no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call
you servants, because a servant does not know his master's
business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything
that I learned from my Father I have made known to you"
(John 15:13-15).
